There's no need to worry about finding an electronic health record (EHR) vendor to meet your needs. The Ohio Health Information Partnership already went through an extensive selection process to identify five preferred vendors: Allscripts, eClinicalWorks, e-MDs, Nextgen and Vitera (formerly Sage). We negotiated terms with these vendors that will benefit you. To view these terms click here.
You also will get guidance on vendor selection from our seven regional partners, known as Regional Extension Centers (RECs). Their job is to provide you with the hands-on help you need to successfully select, implement and launch an EHR. Locate your REC here. This assistance includes use of a Practice Readiness Tool created by WelchAllyn to help you make a decision regarding which EHR system will work for you. You can find more about WelchAllyn here.
Selection Criteria for Vendors
This application process is closed.
Problems associated with successfully selecting and implementing EHRs have been a significant hurdle in the adoption of EHRs and health information technology across the country. To overcome this obstacle, we issued a request for proposal to EHR vendors, soliciting companies that could provide a certified product, as well as the knowledge and technical resources to support successful implementation and achievement of meaningful use.
After a thorough review process, the Ohio Health Information Partnership has identified the five preferred EHR vendors above. Currently, the application process is closed. A review committee comprised of physicians, hospital CIOs, corporate CEOs, practice managers, Ohio Health Information Partnership staff and other interested parties evaluated more than 40 vendors. The criteria to select the vendors included:
- Sufficient functionality to meet current provider needs
- Proven capacity to handle the demand for services created by the Ohio Health Information Partnership program
- Willingness to hire and train Ohio residents as EHR implementation and training staff
- Commitment that all technical support will be conducted within the United States
- Commitment to meeting national certification and meaningful use requirements
