During your lunch hour (noon to 1 p.m.), you can participate in a webinar: the HIE Primer for Physicians. Speakers include:

  • Dr. Jean Robertson, CMIO of Fairfield Medical Center, who can speak about how EHR and sharing of patient information on a regional basis benefits patients, physicians and communities.
  • Karen Bishop and Rich Branch of The Partnership, who are implementing CliniSync in the first regional area -- West Central Ohio.

9.30.11 – By Invitation: Patient Consent Summit

Invited participants include hospital and health system legal and privacy/security representatives who will work with other systems to discuss current consent privacy practice and learn how CliniSync patient consent fits into their privacy frameworks.

9.14.11 – EHR Lessons Learned: Best Practices for Success

Noon - 1 p.m.

During this one-hour webinar, participants will have the opportunity to hear from three actual EHR users who discuss what they learned during their EHR selection, purchase and implementation. Each panelist will share their “words of wisdom” with the audience and answer your questions.

Join us to hear from the following dynamic EHR users:

  • Dr. James Johns and his practice manager, Donna Johns, of Little Flower Family Practice in Canton. This is a solo family practice that recently implemented an EHR this summer.
  • Anne Sims, the practice manager at Midtown OB-GYN located in Columbus. Midtown OB-GYN is a three-physician OB-GYN practice that implemented an EHR in January 2011.
  • Steven Davies, the CEO of University Medical Associates, a multi-specialty organization with multiple practices located in southeastern Ohio. He also is a member of the Appalachian Health Information Exchange. 

Each panelist will discuss what worked and what didn’t during the selection, purchase and implementation process and will share this with the participants. This is your chance to learn from someone else's mistakes and successes!!

During this one-hour webinar participants will learn the benefits to preparing your office for an EHR implementation from Bruce Kleaveland, an experienced implementation consultant.

Preparing your office for an EHR is NO DIFFERENT! Learn from a seasoned professional the steps you need to take now to ensure your EHR is also built on a strong foundation.

      • Determining your staffing needs during planning and implementation
      • To Scan or Not to Scan?
      • Big Bang or Incremental Implementation – what’s best for your practice?
      • Hosting strategy – ASP or server model
      • How to transition from paper charts to electronic records

Bio for Bruce Kleaveland:
Mr. Kleaveland is one of the most tenured executives in the healthcare information technology (HIT) industry with over 20 years’ experience in both software and devices.

As Chief Operating Officer of Practice Partner, now part of McKesson Corporation, he helped navigate the company to technology and marketplace leadership in the electronic health records market.

He is currently president of Kleaveland Consulting, Inc., an independent consulting firm specializing in advisory services to provider organizations and the HIT industry. He is a faculty member for the Medical Group Management Association and Pri-Med, a technology columnist for Physicians Practice magazine and a former member of the Microsoft Healthcare User Group (MS-HUG) Advisory Board.

Mr. Kleaveland has a Bachelor of Science in Biology with honors from Washington State University and a MBA from the University of Washington.
